Are you ready?
Are you ready?

Are you ready to take it serious?
Are you ready to fight together?
Are you ready to think?
Are you ready to get political?
Are you ready for the revolution?

Are you ready? Are you ready?

Are you ready for radical tenderness?
Are you ready to stand up for others?
Are you ready to change the lyrics Is there anything ever in your belonging?

Are you ready? Are you ready?

Are you willing to create space?
Let ’s come out, take the stars from heaven!
Are you ready to speak out?
Are you ready to dare freedom?

Are you ready to break illusions?
Are you ready to see the real things?
Are you ready to lose control?
Are you ready to let flow?

Are you ready to wear a dress
Are you ready to ignore ignorance
Are you ready to have a blurry vision
Then put yourself on a shelf

Are you ready to change the system
Are you ready to share your money
Are you ready to have fun with us
Are you ready to dance?

Are you ready to respect women?
Are you ready to share childcare?
Are you ready to change the diapers?
Are you ready to break the social conventions?

Shake it up, shake it up, shake it up Shake it up, shake it up, shake it up
Why not we instead of I Why not we instead of I Why not we instead of I Why not we instead of I

The song began when fem*voice kollektiv was invited to facilitate a participatory intervention during the event “D-Connect: Alles bebt. Dringende Allianzen erproben” organized by D-Arts – Projektbüro für Diversität.
The event, curated by Djamila Grandits and Rubia Salgado, was conceived around the theme “The ethics of alliances between privileged and non-privileged bodies, lives, and subjectivities,” inspired by Jota Mombaça’s text “Não vão nos matar agora” (Cobogó, Rio de Janeiro, 2021).
Starting from these curatorial questions, we developed the song around further reflections — particularly on whether we are truly ready for change and transformation, given that both involve loss and letting go.

The initial text was created within fem* voice kollektiv for the intervention and evolved further during a fem* voice circle session.
